Expert review
Toyota's Tacoma has enjoyed a long reign as king of midsize pickups, but with increased competition, the Tacoma's been redesigned for 2016. Its changes should enable it to maintain a lead, for now.
The Toyota Tacoma is the longtime leader in midsize pickups. The 2016 version can be configured 29 different ways, with two cab styles. There’s the extended Access Cab or the 4-door Double Cab, each available with rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive. For years, the Tacoma has been a go-to pickup for off-roaders, outdoor enthusiasts, and professionals who need a truck without the bulk of a full-sizer. The Tacoma’s capability, reliability, and predictability have built one of the most solid pickup reputations out there.

What owners say
"Overall, Tacoma owners appreciate its reliability, resale value, and long-lasting performance, but some have noted concerns about pricing, minor issues, and interior storage. Many drivers feel it's a great option among mid-size trucks despite some drawbacks."
Great truck. Everything works. Drives and handles like I’m driving a car.
July 26, 2025Sleek styling. 4x4, long bed, 6 cylinder. It has “go” power. 4 doors makes it comfortable for passengers.
January 11, 2025Toyota are great mid-size trucks that last forever however, I'm only 6ft and I had a hard time fitting in the truck.

June 21, 2025We purchased the 2016 Tacoma. We had running boards added as part of the purchase. The storage compartments are of good size. The phone sync and navigation systems were easy to set up. The manual was easy to follow. It is a nice ride.
July 21, 2021This is a great truck, yes I believe it is over priced but the trucks hold their value because the do last!
March 14, 2021there is no truck better then a Toyota Tacoma on the market today. In the mid-size trucks. Just a great truck although they are just a bit over priced. Available options are just the right amount of toys for my needs.
February 25, 2021Value for the money with Toyota reliability can’t beat it
May 11, 2022Good looking, reliable and long lasting.....as long as you take good care of it.
June 27, 2020Great vehicle. Good height/visibility, sticks to slick roads very well on 4x4. Decent on gas for a truck. Rides very smooth. I have the access cab version. It’s surprisingly roomy back there despite not being a full crew cab (I don’t have a need for a crew cab). Very happy with my purchase b
January 16, 2023Engine a little sluggish in the wind. Seats are rather firm. Plenty of legroom for 6’1” driver which was a nice improvement.
