New & Used 2026 Nissan LEAF for SaleNationwide

Is the 2026 Nissan LEAF a good car?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF earns an expert rating of 7.8/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The redesign gives you more range, updated tech and charging hardware, and styling that looks more crossover than hatchback. It also keeps the low pricing that has long been part of the model’s appeal, so this is an EV aimed at being approachable rather than flashy. The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the back seat is cramped.

For you, that means the LEAF makes the most sense if you want an affordable EV with a modern look and updated hardware, and you can live with a few compromises. Good and great deals account for 33.7% of listings, which suggests there’s still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Nissan LEAF reliable?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF is presented as a mature redesign of Nissan’s long-running EV, with updated hardware and a liquid-cooled battery pack that should help support everyday use. The new model also keeps the brand’s long warranty coverage for EV components and the battery pack, which is reassuring for used buyers.

The performance setup is straightforward: a single-motor, front-wheel-drive layout, with the base model making 174 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque and higher trims rated at 214 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque. The new battery pack and charging hardware are part of the car’s updated design, and the battery can be pre-cooled for better charging performance.

Nissan also includes an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty covering both mechanical issues and capacity loss beyond a set amount. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is battery condition and remaining warranty coverage, so you’ll want to verify how the car has been charged and how much warranty time is left.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Nissan LEAF?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where battery condition and charging behavior matter. Focus on overall condition, charging-port hardware, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging. If possible, confirm battery state-of-health and check how much of the battery warranty remains.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S and S+ models use 18-inch steel wheels, while SV+ and Platinum+ models get 18-inch or 19-inch alloys and a more upscale cabin presentation. The lower trims also miss some of the convenience and tech upgrades found higher up, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: The LEAF uses a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup. Base models make 174 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque with a 52-kWh battery pack, while other trims are rated at 214 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque with a 75-kWh pack.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, driver monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system. ProPilot Assist is also standard, combining lane-centering with adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: S and S+ models have a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while SV+ and Platinum+ models get a 14.3-inch version. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Google built-in apps are added on SV+ and Platinum+ models.
• Range & charging: The Leaf S+ is rated at 303 miles, the SV+ at 288 miles, and the Platinum+ at 259 miles. Nissan says a 10%-80% DC fast charge takes 35 minutes, and the battery pack supports pre-cooling for better charging performance.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, ask about charging habits, and confirm whether the car has spent most of its life on home charging or frequent DC fast charging. You should also verify how much of the eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty remains.

Which 2026 Nissan LEAF trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF is offered in 4 trim levels: S, S+, SV+, Platinum+.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the LEAF’s core EV hardware and standard safety tech at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the cheapest way into the redesigned car and can live without the richer screen and audio upgrades.
• S+: This is the best-value trim if you want the longest range, since it is the first LEAF to crack 300 miles at 303 miles. It keeps the value focus while giving you the strongest range figure in the lineup.
• SV+: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it adds the larger 14.3-inch display, Google built-in apps, rear USB-C ports, and a wireless device charger. It also brings the more powerful 214-horsepower setup and 288 miles of range.
• Platinum+: This is the most upscale version, with the 14.3-inch display, Google built-in apps, a 10-speaker Bose Personal Plus audio system, TailorFit seating material on both rows, and vehicle-to-load capability. It suits you best if you want the most features and don’t mind paying more for them.

ProPilot Assist is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Nissan LEAF?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and compare listings carefully.

• Clean inventory: 95.3% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Nissan LEAF safe?

The 2026 Nissan LEAF was not yet crash-tested by IIHS or NHTSA when this review was written.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, driver monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system. Nissan’s ProPilot Assist highway-driving system is also standard, combining automated lane-centering with adaptive cruise control.

A caveat to keep in mind is that the basic ProPilot Assist setup is not as advanced as the versions in some other Nissan models, and in testing it wobbled a bit while following lanes. That doesn’t make the LEAF unsafe, but it does mean you should treat it as a helpful driver aid rather than a fully polished hands-off system.

Should I buy a 2026 Nissan LEAF or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The redesign brings more range, up-to-date tech and charging hardware, and styling that looks more crossover than hatchback.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern LEAF experience, the 2026 model is the one to target because it brings the redesign, stronger range figures, and updated charging hardware while keeping the car’s value-first mission intact. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby older LEAF may still make sense, but you’ll be giving up some of the range, tech, and charging improvements that define this generation.
