How much does the 2025 BMW i4 cost?

Prices have softened 16.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 763 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 BMW i4 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 BMW i4 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

The i4 stands out as an upscale electric car with a distinctive four-door sportback body and a rear hatch that adds surprising utility. It is especially appealing if you want an EV that feels more premium and more engaging than purely practical, and the 2025 updates add a new infotainment system plus Plug & Charge convenience.

The main trade-offs are its polarizing design and its cramped back seat, and entry and exit can be difficult. Even so, it still provides room for four adults, and its cargo area is a real strength for this class.

The current market shows 33.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 BMW i4 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The i4 is described as having top-notch reliability, and the 2025 model year keeps the car’s premium EV formula intact while adding subtle updates inside and out. Its electric powertrain and modern tech package support the impression of a well-sorted ownership experience.

The performance content also points to a refined EV setup with strong efficiency, and the new Plug & Charge convenience makes day-to-day charging easier. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery, charging behavior, and electronics have been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 BMW i4?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been used in dense urban traffic or has higher mileage. Focus on overall condition, charging behavior, and whether the cabin and exterior show signs of heavy use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The i4 is offered as a single-motor, rear-wheel drive eDrive40, a dual-motor, all-wheel drive xDrive40, and an M50 performance-tuned dual-motor AWD model. The base setup emphasizes efficiency and range, while the higher-output versions add speed and traction.
• Powertrain: The single-motor rear-wheel-drive setup is the most efficient and longest-range version, while the dual-motor AWD models trade some efficiency for quicker acceleration and added traction.
• Safety package: Every i4 includes Active Driving Assistant with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, a driver monitoring system, and BMW Assist eCall. The Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Active Driving Assistant Pro and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant.
• Infotainment: The car uses a 12.3-inch driver display paired with a 14.9-inch touchscreen, and the 2025 model adds iDrive 8.5 with Quick Select, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and over-the-air-friendly modern software features.
• Range & charging: The eDrive40 with 19-inch wheels is rated at 295 miles of range, while the standard 18-inch wheels bring that to 318 miles. The battery pack is 81 kWh, and a DC fast charge took 30 minutes to reach 80% in testing.
• Battery health: On a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car has relied on DC fast charging versus home charging, and confirm how much battery warranty coverage remains. A well-kept battery and sensible charging habits matter more than cosmetic wear.

Which 2025 BMW i4 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW i4 is offered in 3 trim levels: eDrive40, xDrive40, and M50.

Here's the short version:

• eDrive40: This is the best-value choice if you want the i4’s core strengths: the most efficiency, the longest range, and rear-wheel-drive dynamics. It gives you the cleanest balance of price, range, and everyday usability.
• xDrive40: Choose this if you want the added traction and stronger all-weather confidence of dual-motor AWD. It makes sense if you value grip and quicker response more than maximum range.
• M50: This is the performance-focused pick, with the dual-motor AWD setup tuned for stronger acceleration. Buy it if you want the most urgent driving character and are willing to pay for it.

BMW’s standard Active Driving Assistant is included across the lineup, while the available Driving Assistance Package and Driving Assistance Professional Package add more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 BMW i4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 763 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $46,965, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 BMW i4's resale value?

The current average of $47,141 sits slightly below last year's $56,527.

That price movement suggests the i4 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you’re buying used and less ideal if you’re planning to sell soon. If prices remain stable, future sellers may benefit from a smaller remaining drop than the first owner experienced.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 BMW i4 safe?

The 2025 BMW i4 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

BMW equips every i4 with Active Driving Assistant, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, active blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, and BMW Assist eCall are standard as well.

If you want more capability, the Driving Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, while the Driving Assistance Professional Package adds Active Driving Assistant Pro and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant. That package brings lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and emergency stop assist, plus hands-free driving on limited-access highways at speeds under 40 mph.

Crash-test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS weren’t available at the time of publication, so you should lean more heavily on the standard safety equipment and the available driver-assistance packages when comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2025 BMW i4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model adds a new infotainment system, Plug & Charge convenience, and subtle design updates inside and out.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date version of the i4’s tech and convenience features, the 2025 is the right target. If your priority is simply getting into an i4 for less money, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2025’s combination of softened pricing, strong satisfaction, and updated tech makes it the better all-around choice for most buyers.
