Is the 2024 Honda Civic Type R a good car?

Yes — 5/5. The 2024 Honda Civic Type R stands out as a serious front-wheel-drive performance car that turns the familiar Civic formula into something much more focused. It is described as a polished, refined evolution of its predecessor, while still keeping the manual gearbox, limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers, and Brembo front brake calipers that help make it sharp and engaging.

It also brings a more modern cabin with a nine-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone integration, and a premium audio system, so you are not giving up everyday usability for performance. If you want a highly capable manual hot hatch with strong all-around appeal, this model year fits that brief well.

32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Honda Civic Type R reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Honda Civic Type R is described as benefiting from Honda’s reputation for durability, and the engine is noted as having been refined over a long period of time and being extremely durable. That matters because this is a performance car with a manual transmission and track-capable hardware, so you want a model that can handle enthusiastic use without becoming a constant maintenance project.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying performance-car money for a car that may have been driven hard, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Honda Civic Type R?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report to confirm the car’s background and look for signs of prior damage or repeated repairs. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a performance model like this, since you want to verify the clutch, brakes, tires, suspension, and overall wear. Focus on condition first, because a well-kept example is more important than chasing the lowest sticker price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda Civic Type R?

This is a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right car shows up, but you should still compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 335 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $43,664, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Honda Civic Type R's resale value?

The current average of $45,327 sits slightly below last year's $45,483.

That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price trend can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value because the model is not swinging sharply in either direction. Strong demand for well-kept examples should also help support pricing over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Honda Civic Type R or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $43,775, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $45,327 average.
• It is more playful and more exhilarating to drive.

The bottom line: If you want the most current version with stable pricing and strong inventory quality, the 2024 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you still want the core Type R experience, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
