Used 2021 Toyota Tundra for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2021 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,923 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Toyota Tundra earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spacious cabin, powerful performance, and reliability, and they also call out the smooth ride, comfort, and solid construction. That lines up with the Tundra’s use case as a straightforward full-size pickup for buyers who want durability and everyday comfort more than the latest tech. The main trade-offs are limited bed and cab configurations and fuel economy that trails newer rivals. With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a truck that feels built to last, with several reviewers emphasizing its trouble-free nature and solid construction. The expert evaluation also reinforces that theme by describing the Tundra as a rugged pickup that can take some abuse while staying relevant. Toyota’s standard safety and infotainment updates help keep the truck current, and the available maintenance-friendly ownership experience adds to its appeal. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear may show up sooner than on newer rivals, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Tundra?

At 73.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a truck with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any evidence of prior body or frame repair. Because this truck is often bought for work and towing, condition matters as much as trim level.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR is the most basic version, with halogen headlights, steel wheels, cloth seating, manual climate control, and a 7-inch infotainment system. The SR5 adds power-adjustable front seats and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Limited brings leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and more comfort-focused equipment. The TRD Pro adds off-road hardware, and the Platinum and 1794 Edition lean into more upscale features and finishes.
• Powertrain: The Tundra uses a 5.7-liter V8 with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is described as strong and confident, with rear-wheel drive standard and four-wheel drive available.
• Safety package: Safety Sense P is standard and includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors are optional.
• Infotainment: A standard 7-inch touchscreen is included, with an available 8-inch screen with navigation. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot trial are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive model returns 13 mpg city, 17 highway, and 15 combined. The four-wheel-drive model returns 13 mpg city, 17 highway, and 14 combined.

Which 2021 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Tundra is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, TRD Pro, Platinum, and 1794 Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the value-focused starting point, but it is also the most stripped-down version. You get the essentials, including a 7-inch infotainment system, cloth seating, and manual climate control, so it suits you if you want the lowest entry point and can live without comfort upgrades.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds power-adjustable front seats and an 8-inch touchscreen without jumping all the way to the more expensive luxury-oriented trims. It is the sweet spot if you want a more livable daily driver.
• Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the most complete mix of comfort and convenience. It adds leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and a 10-way power driver’s seat, making it a strong pick if you want fewer compromises.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused trim, with a 2-inch lift, Fox off-road shock absorbers, all-terrain tires, skid plates, and a TRD exhaust. Choose it if you want the most rugged setup in the lineup.
• Platinum: This trim leans upscale with heated-and-ventilated front seats, leather-and-woodgrain trim, and more premium exterior details. It suits you if comfort and appearance matter more than value.
• 1794 Edition: This trim largely mirrors the Platinum’s content but adds unique visual and interior touches. It is the choice if you want the same upscale feel with a more distinctive look.

Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim to get the core driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Tundra?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,923 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,595, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $38,331 sits slightly below last year's $38,467.

That small decline suggests the market has been stable rather than volatile, which is generally helpful if you plan to resell later. A truck that holds close to its prior-year value can be easier to price confidently when you are ready to move on. The Tundra’s strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2021 Toyota Tundra earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Standard safety equipment also includes eight airbags, tire pressure monitoring, trailer sway control, and an integrated trailer brake controller. Optional features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. The main caveat is that some of the more advanced driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the older V8 formula while adding modern infotainment and safety updates.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $36,687, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $38,331 average.
• It is especially appealing if you want proven reliability at a lower price.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $38,022, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,331 average.
• It brings a full redesign with more flexibility and updated powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the familiar V8 Tundra with modernized tech and a stable used market, the 2021 is the right path. If price is your top priority, the 2020 is the better value play. If you want a major redesign and broader capability choices, look to the 2022.
