Summary

Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Honda Accord 4.6 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 9.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2021 Honda Accord stands out as one of the bestselling cars in the U.S. for good reason. For this model year, Honda took the Accord in a more elevated direction by refining its features list, adding a trim level, and pricing it to compete against other heavyweights in the industry. Safety was also a priority in the 2021 Accord, helping this fresh version earn high praise.
It also brings together several qualities that make it appealing to a wide range of buyers. The Accord’s stylish design, great handling, and spacious cabin are clear strengths, and owner feedback points to strong performance, luxurious features, and good gas mileage. The main drawbacks are that all-wheel drive is not available and the technology is described as outdated, so shoppers looking for the latest tech or extra traction may want to weigh those limits carefully.

I think the car has all features that I needed . Because of the low miles and condition I think it was great value. Only thing it was missing was a sunroof . the most similar options are the camry xse and bmw 3 Series.

My second Accord, this was to replace a 2018 that was totaled in an accident. I've driven a Camry, K5, Buick Regal, Altima, and several other sedans and this is the best built in a world with fewer and fewer available

| Average Price a Year Ago | $22,954 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.18% |

Is the 2021 Honda Accord a good car?
Yes — the 2021 Honda Accord earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.
Drivers consistently praise its great performance, luxurious features, and good gas mileage. The Accord also gets credit for its modern look and technology, and the overview points to stylish design, great handling, and a spacious cabin as core strengths.
The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available and the technology is described as outdated. That makes it a strong fit if you want a roomy, well-rounded sedan with broad appeal, but less ideal if you prioritize extra traction or the newest infotainment features.
Only 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the best examples may require quick action.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The user feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting strong performance and good gas mileage over the long term.
The expert review reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Accord as a practical daily driver with easy maneuverability and measured braking performance. It also notes that Honda improved the idle-stop behavior for 2021, which supports smoother everyday use.
Long-term ownership risk looks manageable for used buyers, but you should still verify maintenance history and condition carefully before you commit.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Accord?
At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on panel alignment, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the cabin electronics and driver-assistance features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX is the base model, while higher trims add features like LED headlights and lowlights, leather-trimmed seating, a power moonroof, and more upscale interior materials. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment.
- Powertrain: The Accord offers a 192-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder on LX, Sport, Sport SE, and EX-L trims, while Sport 2.0T and Touring use a more powerful 2.0-liter turbo-four with 252 hp. The smaller engine is the efficiency play, while the larger one is the stronger choice if you want more punch.
- Safety package: Every Accord comes with Honda Sensing, including lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: Every Accord gets an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free text messaging, and two USB ports. Higher trims add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, WiFi hotspot capability, and a 10-speaker premium audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: The 1.5-liter engine is rated at 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway, while the 2.0-liter engine returns 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
Which 2021 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2021 Honda Accord is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, Sport 1.5T, Sport Special Edition (SE), EX-L, Sport 2.0T, and Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value starting point if you want the Accord’s core strengths without paying for extras. It gives you the standard safety suite, the 8-inch touchscreen, and the efficient 1.5-liter engine, making it the most budget-friendly way into the lineup.
- Sport 1.5T: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale look and useful extras without jumping to the pricier powertrain. It also keeps the efficient engine while adding the sportier presentation many buyers want.
- Sport Special Edition (SE): Choose this if you want a nicer cabin and more convenience features than the Sport 1.5T. It adds leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable passenger seat, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated mirrors, keyless entry, and remote engine start.
- EX-L: This is the comfort-focused choice if you want a more premium feel. It adds leather trim and can be paired with the power moonroof, making it a strong pick for shoppers who value everyday refinement.
- Sport 2.0T: Pick this if you want the stronger engine and a more engaging drive. It’s the right choice for buyers who care more about performance than fuel economy.
- Touring: This is the top trim if you want the most equipment, including the head-up display and HomeLink Remote. It’s the most complete version of the Accord, but it also sits at the top of the price range.
Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic alert arrive on higher trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Accord?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings carefully and wait for the right example.
- Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,144 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.18% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,535, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $21,535 sits slightly below last year's $22,954.
That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also suggests the market has adjusted downward from prior levels. For a future seller, that means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and trim choice than it would be in a stronger pricing environment.
Well-equipped trims and clean history examples should hold up better than rougher cars with accident records or missing features. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Honda Accord safe?
The 2021 Honda Accord earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recognition and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every Accord comes standard with Honda Sensing, which includes lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Standard safety equipment also includes vehicle stability assist with traction control, brake assist, a rearview camera, and LED daytime running lights.
Higher trims add rear-seat reminder, low-speed braking control, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert. The Accord also includes two complete sets of LATCH connectors in the rear seat, which is helpful if you plan to install child seats.
Should I buy a 2021 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.18% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Honda refined the features list, added a trim level, and made safety a priority for this model year.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $19,741, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $21,535 average.
- It blends style, comfort, and everyday usefulness with easy-to-use tech.
The bottom line: The 2021 is the better pick if you want the fresher version with stronger safety emphasis and a broader trim lineup. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the smarter value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with the features you want.
