Used 2023 Ford Maverick for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2023 Ford Maverick cost?

Prices have softened 7.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,353 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford Maverick a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Ford Maverick earns 4.4/5 from owners and 7.3/10 from expert testing. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its impressive gas mileage, comfort, and value, and many also like the hybrid option and practical design for family and hauling use. The Maverick’s compact-truck format and fuel-efficient setup are a big part of its appeal, especially if you want utility without moving up to a larger pickup. On the other hand, the cabin can be noisy, the interior materials feel cheap, and the infotainment system is older.

That mix makes the Maverick a strong fit if you want an efficient, useful small truck and can live with some budget-grade compromises. Good and great deals account for 32.2% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Ford Maverick reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on its practical design, comfort, and efficiency. The truck’s hybrid setup and straightforward packaging also support a trouble-free ownership experience for many buyers who want a compact truck they can count on. The expert testing also points to a value-focused, efficient powertrain that should appeal to long-term owners who prioritize low running costs.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is choosing a truck that has been poorly maintained or heavily used, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Maverick?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage truck or one with off-road use. Focus on cabin condition, infotainment behavior, and signs of hard use, since the Maverick’s value depends heavily on how well it’s been kept. If you want the best ownership experience, compare trim equipment carefully so you don’t overpay for features you won’t use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is the most stripped-down version, with steel wheels and a simpler cabin, while XLT adds nicer wheels and Lariat brings more upscale touches like a larger driver display, push-button start, ambient lighting, and available luxury equipment. The Tremor package adds blacked-out exterior details, orange accents, tow hooks, and a more adventurous look, but it also changes the truck’s character and equipment mix.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor for 191 horsepower and front-wheel drive, while the available 2.0-liter EcoBoost brings 250 horsepower, an eight-speed automatic, and available all-wheel drive. The Tremor package is the only way to get Ford’s Advanced 4WD system on the Maverick.
• Safety package: Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 suite is standard, and it includes automatic high beams, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and a rear view camera. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, evasive steering assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and hill-descent control.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay, and wired Android Auto. FordPass Connect can add a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot with a subscription, while Lariat models get a 6.5-inch driver display and available upgrades such as a wireless charging pad and Sync 3.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at 40 mpg city, 33 highway, and 37 combined, while the gas engine returns 25 mpg city, 30 highway, and 25 combined.

Which 2023 Ford Maverick trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford Maverick is offered in 3 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the value play if you want the Maverick’s core hybrid efficiency and basic truck utility at the lowest entry price. It’s the simplest version, so you’re giving up the nicer wheels and more upscale cabin touches found higher up.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more polished look and serves as the starting point for the Tremor and FX4 packages. If you want the broadest mix of price, equipment, and flexibility, this is the one to target.
• Lariat: This is the right choice if you want the most comfort and convenience features, including the larger driver display and available luxury upgrades. It’s the most premium Maverick, but you’ll pay more for those extras.

Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 suite is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core safety tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Maverick?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the best examples.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,353 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,928, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Maverick's resale value?

The current average of $25,928 sits slightly below last year's $27,962.

That softer pricing suggests the Maverick has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later. Strong owner satisfaction also helps keep demand steady among used-truck shoppers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford Maverick safe?

The 2023 Ford Maverick earned a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) losing points for rollover resistance and for the passenger’s side in the frontal crash test. The NHTSA also noted that their gas-powered tester emitted smoke and flames following the crash. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the 2023 Maverick a Superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention and Advanced for vehicle-to-pedestrian in daytime, but it earned only a Basic rating for vehicle-to-pedestrian at night.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 suite is standard, so every trim gets automatic high beams, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, and a rear view camera. Available safety upgrades include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, evasive steering assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and hill-descent control.

The nighttime pedestrian-prevention result is the main caveat to keep in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Maverick or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The Tremor package adds off-road capability and gives the 2023 model year a more adventurous edge.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,180, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $25,928 average.
• It offers approachable pickup simplicity with an available hybrid powertrain.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the newer model-year mix of efficiency, available off-road character, and stronger market selection. If your priority is saving money above all else, the 2022 is the better value path, especially if you find a clean example with the equipment you want.
