CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Nissan Kicks
overall

Summary
With 925 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,969, 31.4% of 2019 Nissan Kicks listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Nissan Kicks 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.
72.1% of 2019 Nissan Kicks listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Nissan Kicks stands out as an affordable, fuel-efficient crossover that aims to deliver the basics of small-vehicle practicality without a high price tag. It also comes with standard advanced safety features, which adds to its appeal for buyers who want value and peace of mind in a budget-friendly package. Owners often praise its good fuel economy, solid feature content, and touch screen interface, reinforcing the Kicks’ reputation as an easygoing, everyday commuter.
That said, the 2019 Nissan Kicks is not especially strong where some shoppers expect a crossover to shine. Its performance is sluggish, all-wheel drive is not available, and the seats are described as uncomfortable. The overall impression is of a vehicle that makes sense on paper for shoppers prioritizing efficiency and affordability, but one that gives up some versatility and refinement in the process.

I am familiar with the Kicks and bought another to add to my car fleet. I like the SR models and enjoy the Bose speakers, leather heated seats, and it's confortable to drive.

The touch screen and backup camera are really good. Also the gas mileage is the best Ive seen even among sedans. The price is universally better than other comparable crossovers. It drives and feels like a rogue but much closer to the ground. The pickup speed is the only complaint. And 4wd isnt available. And the interior lights seem cheap and ineffective.

I love the fuel efficiency and the comfortable amount of passenger space and storage capacity available. I love the simple to navigate touch screen interface. It’s responsive and lively enough to keep up on the highways with ease and amazing on long drives.

This SR model has every option possible. No GPS but the CarPlay and AndroidAuto make up for it. The only other small complaint is some of the door switches do not illuminate making them hard to locate at night. Well optioned and great safety features for this price point.

Prices have softened 6.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 934 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks a good car?
Generally — the 2019 Nissan Kicks earns a 4/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Technology and Safety.
Owners commonly praise its good value, solid features, great fuel efficiency, and easy-to-use touch screen interface. The Kicks also gets credit for its comfortable passenger space and ample safety features, which fit its role as a budget-friendly commuter.
The trade-offs are clear: performance is sluggish, and the seats are described as uncomfortable. That makes it a better fit if you care more about affordability, efficiency, and everyday usefulness than driving excitement or refinement.
With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Review feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on value, fuel economy, and useful features. The Kicks is also described as a car owners can count on for everyday commuting, especially when you want low running costs and simple operation.
The expert evaluation reinforces that practical, easy-to-live-with character, and the fuel-economy focus supports the case for low-stress ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about whether the car’s basic comfort and performance compromises will still suit your needs over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
At 71.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and any signs of prior repair. Because this model is often bought for value, it makes sense to focus on condition and maintenance quality rather than just the lowest asking price.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The S trim is the most basic, with 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, manual folding side mirrors, black plastic bumpers, cloth seats, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, standard automatic emergency braking, and three USB ports. The SV adds 17-inch alloys, body-color heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a half-digital instrument panel. The SR adds unique cosmetic touches, fog lights, full LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and available navigation, Bose audio, heated front seats, and Prima-Tex leatherette upholstery.
- Powertrain: A 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine makes 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive only. It is efficient, but acceleration is modest and all-wheel drive is not available.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR trims.
- Infotainment: The standard 7-inch touchscreen is simple to use, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on the SV and SR. The digital instrument panel on those trims also adds useful information displays.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 31 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.
Which 2019 Nissan Kicks trim should I buy?
The 2019 Nissan Kicks is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and can live with the most basic setup. You still get the 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, automatic emergency braking, and three USB ports, but you give up the nicer convenience and tech upgrades found higher up.
- SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest everyday upgrades: 17-inch alloys, heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the half-digital instrument panel.
- SR: Choose this if you want the most upscale presentation and the most available convenience features. It adds the cosmetic upgrades, fog lights, full LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and available navigation, Bose audio, heated front seats, and leatherette upholstery.
The safety package starts with automatic emergency braking on the S, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.
- Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 934 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.76% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,907, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Nissan Kicks's resale value?
The current average of $11,907 sits slightly below last year's $12,771.
That softer pricing suggests the Kicks is in a buyer-friendly phase right now, which can make future resale more competitive if you buy at the right price. For a seller, the upside is that the model’s value-oriented reputation and strong fuel economy should keep it relevant to budget-minded shoppers.
The main thing to watch is that resale will likely depend heavily on condition, trim, and whether the car has a clean history. Well-kept examples with the right equipment should be easier to move than higher-mileage or accident-damaged ones.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks safe?
The 2019 Nissan Kicks earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal crash, side crash, and rollover tests.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR trims.
The main caveat is that the strongest safety tech is not universal across the lineup, so lower trims miss some of the added driver-assistance features found higher up.
Should I buy a 2019 Nissan Kicks or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.76% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 stands out for its standard advanced safety features and strong fuel economy.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $11,510, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $11,907 average.
- It is a practical commuter-focused crossover with everyday usability.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, safety, and feature content, the 2019 is the better target. If your priority is simply spending less, the 2018 can still make sense, but you should expect a more basic overall package.
